Hytale won't be on Steam right away, as its devs want to avoid "overindexing on negative reviews" from players who "aren't as well-informed yet"

Update: Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme has provided some clarificiation of the FAQ answer outlining the reasons the studio aren't launching Hytale on Steam right out of the gate. "The wording around 'over-indexing' was confusing and misinterpreted by many, making it sound like we were avoiding Steam because of negative reviews," he wrote in a post on the tweeter explaining the need for the update, taking responsibility on his and executive director Patrick 'Lyall' Derbic's parts for not

One of PC gaming's key RAM manufacturers aren't selling to regular humans anymore, so they can peddle more kit to AI companies

The ongoing chaos in RAM production, with mass shortages jacking up street prices to are-you-joking levels, now has a major manufacturer casualty. Micron have announced the end of Crucial, their consumer brand for PC memory and SSDs – and likely a familiar name to gaming PC builders who’ve been hooking up their storage drives and slotting in their RAM sticks for decades. Eclipsium is cosmic horror at its most fidgety and free-wheeling

Hold up all your fingers. Count them from right to left. When you get to four, stop. That is today's Advent calender number. You will not need the rest of your fingers. Please dispose of them as you see fit. What game could prompt such a sinister overture? It can only be... Eclipsium! Read more

Access to Roblox has been blocked in Russia, with federal censorship and media oversight agency Roskomnadzor accusing the platform of distributing content "justifying terrorism" and spreading "LGBT propaganda". According to Russian media reports, the state body said Roblox has become rife with content that can "negatively impact the spiritual and moral development of children". Read more

Hi-Fi Rush is ditching Denuvo in January, and it'll become unplayable if you don't grab the latest patch

Hi-Fi Rush is ditching its Denuvo anti-tamper software as part of developers' Tango Gameworks transition to working under new owners Krafton. A fresh patch has been released swapping logos to reflect that switch in management, and you'll need to install it before mid-January if you want the game to stay playable. Krafton, of course, bought up Tango after the studio's former parent company Microsoft announced plans to shut it down back in May, alongside Redfall developers Arkane Austin and Might

Element-bending RPG The God Slayer has decent fight scenes, but systemic smarts could elevate it

I'll forgive you if you've not clocked The God Slayer. While it's always been vaguely curious in an Inside Baseball sort of way, its action-RPGness being a stark departure for My Time at Sandrock/My Time at Portia lifesim devs Pathea Games, the project's been in hiding since its 2023 reveal as an apparent PS5 exclusive. Yet it’s still in the works, release date TBD but with a PC version confirmed, and has successfully caught my eye after a hands-off preview session last week – even

PlayerUnknown wants to listen to your Prologue: Go Wayback feedback, just not all of it

There are two Brendan Greene's (or PlayerUnknown's, however you prefer to refer to the game dev). There is the Brendan Greene who wants to listen to the feedback offered up by those partaking in the early access period of his current game, Prologue: Go Wayback. And there is the Brendan Greene who doesn't, for quite reasonable reasons. Both of these are still him, and both show up in a recent interview. Read more

Chill cyberpunk city builder Dystopika's B-Sides DLC offers up polished experiments for you to play with

I think games are generally quite bad at acknowledging that they are things that are made by people. These people tend to have conversations about ideas, which turn into implementing those ideas, and sometimes these ideas are abandoned. We've all enjoyed a deleted scene in the extras of a DVD, yet the cutting room floor does not seem to be a thing for most games, at least not publicly. Which is why the new B-Sides DLC for Dystopika, a chill cyberpunk city builder quite liked by some former RPS

The wonderfully titled Schattenjäger is a bite-sized take on Castlevania where you can see the whole level at once

Truth be told, I have never played a Castlevania game. Just haven't gotten round to one of 'em yet! Symphony of the Night is probably more my speed over the original games, but I do see their importance too of course. However, what I have played, at least a little bit of, is a game that is very derivative of OG platformer except for the fact you can see the entire, 8-bit level at once: Schattenjäger. Read more

Weeks after an indefinite delay, Mina the Hollower's success is a "make-or-break" moment for Yacht Club Games

Back in October, three weeks out from its release date, Yacht Club Games' first completely new game since the original Shovel Knight, Mina the Hollower, was indefinitely delayed. It still doesn't have a release date, and now in a new report and interview with the studio, it's sounding like the success of Mina is a "make-or-break" moment for Yacht Club Games. Read more

Total War: Warhammer 3's latest free update adds dancing Chaos armies, Norscan Spoils, High Elf patronage and just, too much, basically

What's that unholy rumbling? An avalanche? Ah, nothing so delicate. It's the next free update for Total War: Warhammer 3, which launches tomorrow alongside the Tides of Torment DLC. The strategy barons of Creative Assembly have just put up a blog post, and frankly, it's a mess. The Chaos demons of Salaanesh have mastered the foxtrot. The Norscans now give birth to squadrons of porters when they pillage stuff. The Trolls have discovered imperialism, the High Elves have devised a patronage system

Skyblivion's release has been delayed to 2026, but you can check out an interactive version of its map

Skyblivion, the massive mod remake of Oblivion in Skyrim's engine, won't be making its previously announced 2025 release goal, the team behind it have confirmed. Instead, the mod'll be coming out at some point in 2026, giving the team behind it extra time to overcome the final few hurdles and get it polished up. This news comes a few months after ex-Skyblivion level and world designer Dee Keyes called the 2025 release goal the mod's team set in 2023 "pointless and unachievable". Keyes also accu
